Tarragona wraps up the 2026 X-Trial season: the fight for second is still open
After an intense indoor campaign, the 2026 X-Trial World Championship reaches its finale on 18 April in Tarragona. The event takes place at the Tarraco Arena, the modern evolution of the city’s former bullring and a venue that has previously hosted indoor trial.
While the world title has already swung decisively in recent weeks, there is still plenty to fight for. In the championship standings, the battle for second place remains a key storyline heading into the season closer: Gabriel Marcelli holds P2 with Jaime Busto close behind as his main challenger. Harry Hemingway and Matteo Grattarola will also be looking to finish the season with a statement result on Spanish soil.
At Repsol Honda HRC, the focus is clear. Following their team success in Seville, attention has shifted to Tarragona. "There’s only one X-Trial race left, in Tarragona, so I’m eager to finish the year in the best possible way," Toni Bou said after the Nations win. Marcelli underlined that his goal is to "secure the runner-up position" and end the season strongly.
For fans, Tarragona offers a fitting finale: a fresh arena on the calendar and a last chance for the chasers to beat the champion on the night. With the points for second place still not fully locked in, the most intense drama may well happen just behind the top step.
